Moderation in Exercise : Ideas For Women Health and Fitness Blog

We have talked about moderation in food intake and in consuming high calorie foods but what about moderation as part of your exercise plan? Moderation in exercise must also be part of a healthy approach to good health.

Those women who have exercised for years and maintain a high level of activity may not think moderation in exercise is essential but anytime you add to an exercise routine it is also best to do it slowly. Women who have never exercised and have the goal to start must consider moderation as essential to keep from hurting muscles and ligaments.

The results of over exercise can include muscle tears, muscle strains, ligament tears, bone fractures, and back and joint injuries.? Beginning a new exercise routine and practicing moderation will help to protect you from injury.

Exercising for the first time or increasing exercises that are new to you may cause some muscle soreness for the first couple of days. An over the counter pain medication may be helpful as is applying heat to the area. If you sustain an injury while exercising, applying ice the first 24 hours may also be more helpful than heat initially. Always check with your physician when you have? sustained an injury or have pain you cannot explain.

Practice moderation when planning your exercise and activities for the New Year. It is a matter of health.
