To My Wonderful Clients:

As most of you know, I am embarking on a new journey in 2012 with the launch of
Project: A Greater Love. For those who haven?t heard, the idea behind A Greater Love
is to provide one woman a month with a unique opportunity to tap into a wealth of
invaluable professional services and resources which will help her build the skills and
knowledge she needs to change her life and become a fully empowered woman. In
exchange for this life-defining opportunity, and in the spirit of ?paying it forward?, I will
be requiring these women to first commit to spending a minimum of 3 hours of their time
per week for 30 days giving back to the world; volunteering at a charitable organization
of their choosing. Not only does this help to perpetuate the idea of good will and giving
back, but I believe it will help these women to build self esteem; learning that no matter
how small or insignificant they may sometimes feel, they do have the ability to make a
HUGE difference in someone?s life.

I?m so excited about this project, but what excites me even more is the outpouring of
support I?ve already received from many of you; pledging your time and services to
the participants of A Greater Love. Suzanne Lenz, Beth Garfield, Mary Sala, Susan
Hartlight: These are but a few of the generous professionals who have volunteered their
time and services to helping these women-in-need change their lives. Thanks to these
generous volunteers I will be able to offer these women not only my own services as a
stylist, cheerleader, and friend, but also help with everything from resume building, to job
interview preparation, to speech therapy, to health and fitness, to cooking, to shopping,
and more?but I don?t want to stop there!

I know there are more of you out there who are feeling the same loving spirit that has
grabbed hold of me this year and would like to do something to share that love with
the world. My aim with A Greater Love is not only to help these women to become
empowered to change their lives for the better, but to provide those with the desire
to make a difference with an opportunity to do just that. Every single one of us has
something unique to offer, and there is no better feeling in the world than sharing that
with someone who truly needs and appreciates it. If you want to join me in this one-of-
a-kind endeavor, don?t be shy! Speak up, and help me change the world, one woman at a
time!

Obsolete red tape to be scrapped within retail ... - Business Matters

A consultation launched today proposes removing regulations in retail and manufacturing sectors that the Red Tape Challenge has identified as no longer required.

The announcement comes after a recent Government report showed that British businesses will be freed from around ?4 million of regulatory burdens between January and June 2012.

Many of the regulations covered in the consultation were introduced to tackle a specific problem with a particular product, such as fireguards for domestic heating appliances or customers being misled through disingenuous pricing.

Whilst these regulations were very effective at stamping out the problem they were designed to tackle, they are not flexible enough to deal with new products or practices in today?s world.

For example the,?The Heating Appliances (Fireguards) Regulations 1991 requires products to meet the standards as they were in 1971 and are now clearly out of date. Consumers are instead protected by the General Product Safety Regulations 2005 which covers the safety of all consumer products and uses the latest product safety standards.

Consumer Minister Norman Lamb said:

?Removing regulation which is out of date, unnecessary and overcomplicated, whilst protecting customer safety, is a win for consumers and businesses. We already have more effective and more practical regulation in place.

?The Government is determined to cut the regulatory burden on companies to help them to innovate and focus on running their business. This move, which is part of a much wider programme to reduce unnecessary regulation, will make life simpler for many thousands of firms across the UK.?

The Retail theme was the first sector in the spotlight on the Red Tape Challenge website between April and May 2011. While the Manufacturing sector was examined a few months later between July and September.

The Red Tape Challenge effectively opened up the decision making process across Government, giving different groups and organisations a say in which regulations are necessary and which ones can be simplified or scrapped.

The consultation is seeking views from businesses, the public and voluntary and community organisations on how these changes will impact them. It will run for eight weeks, closing on Wednesday 23 May.?

Armed Libyans hand airport to police, ready or not

BENGHAZI, Libya (AP) ? The commander of a powerful Libyan militia said Sunday he has withdrawn from the country's main airport, while some of his men remained behind to give the government another chance to either hire them or take over security itself.

Airport official Nawal al-Amin said that some former rebels left after the top commander quit, but others were meeting with Interior Ministry officials at Tripoli's international airport to try to end the standoff.

The withdrawal of Zintan rebel commander Sayid Mokhtar al-Akhdar and some of his men leaves open the question of who will protect the international airport.

The airport security dispute was the latest sign of the inability of the central government to function effectively after last year's overthrow of longtime ruler Moammar Gadhafi.

Militias comprised of former rebels have shouldered much of the responsibility of policing the country in the absence of a national army and police force. The militias operate outside the government's control.

The militia from Libya's western mountainous area of Zintan said it no longer wants to be responsible for securing the airport, seven months after it assumed control there.

Zintan militia spokesman Khaled al-Zintani said the former rebels were responsible for securing a 15-kilometer (10-mile) radius around the airport following a proliferation of long and short-range missiles that could threaten air traffic. The government has staffed civilian posts like the customs office.

The government promised in a statement Sunday that it would take over by the afternoon, but later issued a statement saying the handover was running behind schedule. It did not elaborate.

"The sight of armed men around the airport has caused tensions, so we wanted the government to take over the airport," al-Zintani said.

"We were martyred to liberate this country, but where is the government? Where is the police? Where is the army? Where is a constitution?" al-Akhdar said.

Al-Akhdar said his forces are under pressure to provide security with no funds, no salaries and little gratitude. He said his militia left the airport to send a message to officials in Tripoli "that we will not be burdened by their failure to govern."

Libyan Interior Ministry spokesman Abdel-Salam al-Tounsi said some of the former rebels protecting the airport were meeting with a top police official to discuss plans for possible employment and salaries. The Interior Ministry said the former rebels must be given training before they can work as guards at the airport.

In general, the government does not have the capability of providing its own force to secure vital government facilities, according to former rebels.

Libyan tribesmen have kept the country's main border crossing with Egypt closed for more than a day, complaining of a rise in crime and rampant smuggling of drugs and weapons across the frontier, according to residents and officials.

Al-Zintani said that former rebels who helped liberate Libya of Gadhafi's regime proposed to Interior Ministry officials that the government organize training for the militias in specialized fields, such as airport and border security and counterterrorism, so that they could return to their posts as official government employees. He said he got no response.

"We want the government to create separate departments that the militias can be trained to run," he said. "If we are serious about building a country, this is what we need to do."

Libya's transitional government has signed agreements with Turkey and Jordan to send more than 11,000 former rebels for security training, but no timetable has been given.

The government estimates that over 200,000 people in Libya are armed. It has attempted a number of schemes, including offering people jobs in exchange for handing over their weapons or offering to buy their guns, in order to disarm the militias. So far the offers have shown few results.

Earlier this month, the head of Libya's interim government, Mustafa Abdul-Jalil, told The Associated Press that his government does not want militias in control of state facilities.

Al-Zintani charged that Abdul-Jalil's government is not yet capable of securing the country.

"The reality on the ground is that the militias are protecting the country and protecting government facilities," he said.

CAIRO (AP) - Egyptian soldiers clashed with thousands of angry soccer fans in a Mediterranean coastal city over the suspension of their club following a deadly riot last month, witnesses said Saturday. A medical official said a teenager was killed and 68 people injured.

The Feb. 1 melee following a match in the city of Port Said in which at least 73 people died was the world's worst soccer-related disaster in 15 years. The causes remain murky. Officers have been charged with assisting Port Said fans attack supporters of a Cairo club who had a long history of enmity with the police, and some port residents have claimed that hired outsiders were responsible for much of the violence.

In the latest clashes, Egyptian troops fired volleys of tear gas and shot into in the air to disperse protesters affiliated with Port Said's Al-Masry club, angry over what they see as unfair measures against their club and their city. Violence erupted late Friday and continued through Saturday.

Witnesses said that protesters set fire to tires, blocked major roads before gathering in front of the Suez Canal's main administrative building in an attempt to storm it. Soldiers and police cordoned off the building.

Activists in the city say that families of fans who were arrested after the deadly stadium riot used to hold peaceful protests, but "instigators" have turned their peaceful protests into violent ones.

A medical official said teenager Belal Mamdouh was killed by a gunshot to the back. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to brief the press, said 68 people were injured with gunshots and breathing difficulties from tear gas.

The clashes originally erupted after the Egyptian Football Association on Friday officially suspended Al-Masry for two seasons ending 2013, and closed its stadium for three years as punishment for the stadium riot.

"People are upset that the club is being punished and feel that the problem is not with them, but with the security forces who failed to do their job," said Sameh Abdel-Khaleh, a Port Said resident observing the protests.

Protesters blocked workers Saturday from entering an industrial part of the city known as the investor's area, which is comprised of mostly factories, said Abdel-Khaleh, a manager at one of the factories.

Protesters, however, denounced what they described as a media campaign against their club. Hours before the protests broke out, one well-known sports presenter, a former soccer goalkeeper, said that the measures were not enough.

Street fighting renewed Saturday evening as protesters hurled rocks at military forces, who responded with salvos of tear gas. Ambulances rushed to the area to treat the injured.

The Feb. 1 riot began minutes after a league match between Cairo club Al-Ahly, the most popular in Egypt, and Al-Masry. The home side won 3-1, but fans were upset for what they said were obscene signs raised by Al-Ahly fans.

Survivors of the stadium riot say men wielding batons, knifes, and fireworks streamed from Al-Masry stands and stormed the field to attack Al-Ahly supporters, stabbing them and tossing them off bleachers while the police looked on.

Egypt's general prosecutor charged 75 people, including nine senior police officers, with assisting the attackers. The officers, along with several Al-Masry officials, allegedly knew in advance that the home fans planned to attack Al-Ahly supporters, yet they were allowed to enter the grounds without being searched for weapons as is customary in soccer matches.

The policemen also allegedly allowed 3,000 more people into the stadium than the maximum number authorized to attend the game.

The prosecution said that many of them were criminals known to the local police. It said the killing of the protesters was planned in advance and that the culprits prepared for the massacre with knifes, rocks and explosives. Fans from the two teams have a history of animosity.

Some witnesses have given accounts about "thugs" brought in from outside, but among those charged, more than 60 of them are Al-Masry fans.

The melee sparked days of street protests. Most of the dead were members of the Ultras Ahlawy, a group of avid politicized soccer fans who have long enmity with the police. Ultras have played a key role in the uprising against Hosni Mubarak. Ahly fans regularly taunt the police, who disappeared from the streets during the 18-day upheaval.

Activists have accused the police of turning a blind eye during the riots or even helping organize the attack, in retaliation for the al-Ahly fans' role during the uprising.

A month after the riots, Port Said remains stigmatized. Residents say they are collectively blamed for the violence and have described their situation as a "siege," with merchants and other visitors staying away from the city.

Oil prices rise on unexpected supply drop

NEW YORK (AP) ? One day after the price of benchmark crude took the biggest one-day drop this year, it headed up again.

Oil rose Wednesday after the Energy Information Administration reported that U.S. crude supplies unexpectedly dropped last week. The Energy Information Administration said supplies fell by 1.2 million barrels. Analysts expected supplies to grow by 2.1 million barrels, according to Platts, the energy information arm of McGraw-Hill.

Oil prices also got some support from Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, who told a congressional panel that U.S. banks are in good shape and could withstand shocks from Europe, even if the debt crisis there significantly worsened.

Benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude rose $1.20 to finish at $107.27 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude, which is used by many U.S. refineries to make gasoline, rose by 8 cents to end at $124.20 per barrel in London.

On Tuesday, WTI tumbled by $2.49, or 2.3 percent, to $106.07. It was pushed down by a pledge from Saudi Arabia to pump more oil to cover supply shortages and stabilize prices. There were also more signs that China's economy is slowing. China is the world's second biggest consumer of oil behind the U.S.

Including Wednesday's gain, WTI is up more than 8 percent this year while Brent is up about 16 percent. That's the biggest reason for rising pump prices. The national average jumped by nearly 2 cents to $3.864 per gallon ($1.02 a liter) on Wednesday. That's the highest ever for this time of year in the U.S., as energy has become a driving issue in the presidential election campaign.

The drop in crude supplies in the EIA report doesn't mean Americans are using more gasoline and other fuels.
